I hate being a cliche. But if I’m going to be totally honest with you – which I always strive to be here on Pink-Lady – I’ve been dreaming of my perfect wedding ever since I was a little girl. Sure, it’s not something that an independent woman should admit these days, but I’m afraid that it’s quite simply the truth.
I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about the details over the years, picking up tips and inspiration from coupled up friends and family members along the way, and I’m pretty certain that I’ve got it nailed. Here’s what my dream wedding looks like…
An intimate and cosy venue in the countryside
I love going on city breaks and checking into those glossy big name hotels where you know exactly what to expect, and it’s pretty much guaranteed that the service will be excellent. When it comes to wedding venues though, this is the absolute opposite of what I want.
I dream of a cosy barn in the middle of the countryside, miles away from anyone else, where my partner and I can happily dance the night away with our guests and celebrate the start of married life together. The last thing that I want is to find that I’m sharing the venue with another bride! For these reasons, I’ll be searching for a small and secluded spot, away from the bustle of city life.
An informal meal with a hog roast and lots of champagne
I’ve been to lots of weddings where a sit-down meal has been served, and the quality of the food has always been perfectly reasonable. When I think about my ideal wedding though, this kind of set up just isn’t part of it. I don’t want my guests to be tied up with all the formalities, and I’m aiming for a much more relaxed and communal affair.
I plan to serve a hog roast buffet with buns and side dishes, all washed down with plenty of champagne served by waiting staff. None of my nearest and dearest are vegetarians, so thankfully I won’t have to worry about providing a meat-free alternative! Of course though, most caterers these days are happy to cater for any special dietary requirements.
A festival-style party complete with live music
Like I’ve already mentioned, my dream wedding will include plenty of dancing and joviality. To be a little more specific though, it’ll have a festival themed party on the evening. A live band can really help to set the tone and get the party started, and you can find those that will happily play all your favourite songs.
There are so many additional entertainment options around these days that it can be hard to know where to start, though I’ll definitely be considering a fun photo booth so my guests can capture special memories, and a magician to keep the little ones happy.
