3 Home Improvements That I’m Lusting Over Right Now

One of my all-time favourite things about the internet is just how easy it’s become to get my fix of swoon-worthy interiors and home improvements. Sure, it’s great to be able to keep in touch with friends, and it definitely makes the weekly grocery shopping a lot simpler, but there’s nothing I love doing more in my spare time than getting to have a nosey around at how other people are creating their dream living spaces.

And of course, I’ve created my own wish list along the way. These are the upgrades that I’m currently dreaming of…

Adding A Conservatory

Growing up, my family had a conservatory, and to be perfectly honest, we hardly ever used it. It was sweltering hot in the summer months and icy cold during the winter, and so we never tapped into its full potential. Most of the time, it was a dumping ground for baskets of washing and clutter that really needed to be sorted.

Since then though, conservatories have come a long way. It’s simple and straightforward to add modifications that will regulate the temperature, and create a welcoming space throughout the year. It would also be fabulous to be able to incorporate an indoor hot tub!

Installing Traditional Sash Windows

There’s something just so quintessentially English about traditional sash windows, and they add character and charm by the bucketload. I’d dress them with some vintage printed curtains and fresh flowers on the windowsill, and I just love the idea of being able to have them wide open on warm summer days.

An added benefit here would be that they’d make the house look so much more appealing from outside, and the extra security would give me great peace of mind. Upgrading to traditional sash windows is definitely something that’s on my to-do list within the next few years.

Updating Our Old Kitchen

They say that the kitchen is the heart of the home, and that’s definitely true for ours. It’s where I prepare meals for the family, catch up with friends over a cup of tea or a bottle of wine, and occasionally host one of my famous dinner parties. It’s the room I love the most, but there’s no denying that it desperately needs some TLC. The current fittings have been in since I first moved here, and I’m desperate to add my own stamp and a reflection of my personality.

In the not too distant future, I’d love to install reclaimed wood worktops and a log burning stove, to create a real cosy country cottage feel. I’d finish off the look with pink gingham curtains (of course!), and retro style kitchen appliances.

I might not be able to sort out all these improvements at the same time, but I’m definitely going to be putting aside a little cash each month to make sure that they’re the kind of dreams that will definitely become a reality.

Are you planning to make some home improvements soon? If so, what will be your priority?
